Late spring in Winston-Salem. Susan's yard has a pink theme.
Nate does what needs to be done.

No, just Susan, Rob, Baby Ian, and Nate singing "take me out to the ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch. The Wilmington Blue Rocks beat the Winston-Salem Dash, 11-10. Bolt is the team mascot. We all agree that he has potential, but that he needs to go to Phanatic School.
Jon's bees did so well last year that we are adding another colony to his backyard. Here, after making the trek to Brushy Mountain Bee Farm in Moravian Falls, the team from Susan's lab installs a queen and three pounds of workers into their new home.
...obelisk book, that is. Book courtesy of Maurice and Diana!
No kidding. This 12 ft granite statue is believed to be the largest statue of Martin Luther in the Western Hemisphere. It was carved from a single piece of granite from China. Susan enjoyed a day trip to Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC, on Tuesday to speak at research day festivities.
...not the blog, but Team Walking and Talking placed 52 out of 77 entrants in the 2011 Scene in Winston-Salem Scavenger Hunt. Team members vow that things will be different next year - for example, next year they plan to read the instructions and will not try to do mental arithmetic while they are walking. (It would also help if one of the city's many obelisks was a destination.) The photo shows Team Walking and Talking in Old Salem, where they successfully completed the task of calculating the number of triangles it takes to make a Moravian star.
...and a sign, both courtesy of Jon. "Beecroft" was a station we never visited on one of the train lines to North Sydney. (Just filling in while we are waiting anxiously for the Scene in Winston-Salem race results to be posted on line!)
The blog hangs out with Mayor Allen Joines of Winston-Salem late Saturday morning this past weekend. (Hint: there is a clue in this picture.)

Yes, the blog is definitely up to something. Something that involves walking and talking in Winston...
